Newsboys are a Christian rock band from Queensland, Australia. The band broke out in the 90s and became a household name in the Christian music scene ever since. For more than 30 years, they have played around multiple music genres and have mastered the ins and outs of experimenting with tunes. Pop, rock, and classic worship are among the genres in their wheelhouse, which spawned hits and Grammy nominations.

Newsboys came to be thanks to the combined efforts of Peter Furler and George Perdikis. In 1985, they started the band. Both were schoolmates who, which with the help of their passion for music, became close friends. John James and Sean Taylor would later join them. Two years after, the band moved to the US to release their debut album.

In 1988, "Read All About It" came out. At the turn of the new decade, they were signed with Star Song Communications and released two albums; "Hell is for Wimp" and "Boys Will Boyz." Their first three albums flew under the radar. But with patience, they slowly rose high. Their lineup changed right after the initial albums. In 1992, their much-awaited breakthrough came into reality. Their fourth album, "Not Ashamed," took off in the Christian music scene. The next year, "Going Public" became a stratospheric success. Four of its track became number-one hits, namely "Spirit Thing," "Real Good Thing," "Truth and Consequences," and "Shine." The album brought them a win for "Rock Album of the Year" during the 1995 Dove Award. "Take Me To Your Leader" followed with the successes. John James suddenly left the band.

By 1998, the band began a new era with Peter Furler as the lead man. "Step Up to the Microphone" then broke the charts. Six more albums would follow. After this, Peter Furler was replaced by Michael Tait, who led the band through the 2010s up to today. During his era, the first album was "Born Again." Their most recent release is "Stand," which came out in 2021.

Newsboys will be performing at the Adler Theatre this November 5. If you want to sing and praise, you should see this performance. See you there!
